BMW 2-Series Active Tourer is about to get an xDrive technology
BMW 2-Series Active Tourer is the first ever front wheel drive and now it is about to get more inspirational xDrive AWD version. According to the German automaker, it is the first time ever that BMW will introduce an xDrive technology on a previously front wheel drive version that has a transversally fitted BMW engine.
BMW plans to offer two variants for the revised 2-Series Active Tourer, a petrol variant that consists of 220i active Tourer and a diesel burner, the 220d xDrive Active Tourer. An official press release from the BMW said that the latest example of model alignment of all wheel drive system is offered on the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer. The basic difference in the previous models and the new one is that the xDrive is promised on a front wheel drive concept which has transversally fitted engine which will be a new thing in itself.
BMW 2-Series Active Tourer will offer a 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol version capable of producing 192 HP and 206 Lb-Ft of torque. This will clock 7 seconds from 0-62 miles per hour and top speed of 142 mph. The diesel version 220d Active Tourer will be available with 190 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque, coming from same 2.0 Litre diesel engine.
The new BMW cars have an average fuel consumption of just over 40 miles per gallon and carbon emissions of 148g/km to 152g/km. The 220d xDrive has an average of 57 miles per gallon from diesel and carbon emissions of 122g/km to 127g/km. An eight speed automatic transmission is offered as standard on both versions. There are no price details about the new xDrive versions yet.
